People shouldn’t be able to have a serious conversation about censorship without talking about Sandy Hook. The first major victim of “deplatforming” was Alex Jones, who over the span of a few days in August, 2018, was taken off YouTube, Facebook, Spotify & Apple Podcasts. Each platform gave their own reasons for kicking Jones off, but much of the commentary at the time suggested that what Jones said about Sandy Hook was his most unforgivable sin. In an op-ed for Business Insider, a lawyer for the Sandy Hook families explicitly takes credit for Jones’ bans, the headline reading “I'm a lawyer who sued Alex Jones on behalf of the Sandy Hook families, leading to his deplatforming.”
In April, Alex Jones’ Infowars and two other affiliated companies filed for bankruptcy protection from damages associated with lawsuits filed against Jones by Sandy Hook parents. The Sandy Hook families sued for defamation, alleging a "yearslong campaign of abusive and outrageous false statements in which Jones and the other defendants have developed, amplified and perpetuated claims that the Sandy Hook massacre was staged and that the 26 families who lost loved ones that day are paid actors who faked their relative's deaths." The families argued that they were subjected to harassment and abuse as a result of Jones’ claims. In November, 2021, Alex Jones was found liable in the defamation lawsuit by default after refusing (or being unable) to turn over certain financial and analytics data ordered by the court. It’s relevant that Jones was found liable by default because the families have never had to prove in court that Jones’ statements were actually defamatory and not constitutionally protected speech. Yet the narrative remains that Alex Jones has been found guilty because of the things he said about Sandy Hook.
Why aren’t free speech advocates screaming in the streets about the injustice in this case? Maybe it’s because they’re not allowed to. Before my channel was completely deleted for “medical misinformation” related to vaccines, I had a YouTube channel with over 100k subscribers where I frequently was critical of the censorship of Alex Jones and generally defended Jones’ right to say what he said about Sandy Hook. Every single video I made about Alex Jones and/or Sandy Hook was taken down by YouTube, generally for “glorifying or inciting violence”.
Those are just a few examples. Apparently just talking about Alex Jones is literal violence. I uploaded the Sandy Hook Families vs. Alex Jones video to Rokfin and you can review it for yourself to see conclusively that I never glorified or incited violence, nor did I say that Sandy Hook was a hoax. My interviews with Wolfgang Halbig discussing lawsuits against him brought by Sandy Hook parents were also taken down by YouTube, with the same justification given. Wolfgang Halbig was a school safety administrator in Florida before becoming convinced and outspoken that the Sandy Hook events were staged. The videos were removed (again for glorifying violence) even though I made clear to Wolfgang before the interviews that we wouldn’t be able to discuss his feelings about the Sandy Hook events.
Now that I have an outlet on a “free speech” platform, I’m going to say what I really think. Alex Jones had every right to say what he said about Sandy Hook. After all, this is America, where you’re allowed to have controversial opinions about things. I’m not an attorney, but I’m a free speech advocate and I don’t see where Jones crossed the line into illegal speech.
I’ll go further and say that not only did Jones have a right to proclaim that Sandy Hook was a hoax, he may have had reason to say so. Although many “hoaxer” claims have been debunked to my satisfaction, there are still many lingering questions about what really happened at Sandy Hook that anyone can look into themselves. Here are a few that have stuck with me.
100% kill rate, only two victims taken to the hospital
The official story is that Adam Lanza had 26 victims, 20 children and 6 adults, all deceased and only two were evacuated to the hospital. No trauma helicopter was called in. In fact, the bodies were left in the school all day only to be removed in the middle of the night. This is highly unusual and made much more unusual by the stunning press conference given by the medical examiner, Wayne Carver.
Wayne Carver’s press conference
This has to go down in history as one of the most unusual performances by a medical examiner that I’ve ever seen. Peppered with odd jokes and laughter, Wayne Carver is unable to answer simple questions, for example what caliber of bullet was used. At 4:10 in this video, he says “I hope the people of Newtown don’t have it crash on their heads later.” I’m sorry what? Don’t have what crash on their heads? That link is to the entire press conference and I urge you to watch it in full yourself. Wayne Carver is now deceased so there’s no chance of getting an explanation from him.
Robbie Parker smiling & laughing the day after his daughter was killed
For Sandy Hook truthers, this is the nail in the coffin. How could a father, one day after losing his daughter, calmly smile and laugh before he seems to get into character to make a statement about his daughter’s death? You can look at the video and judge for yourself. When people say “crisis actor”, Robbie Parker is the model.
There have been entire books written about Sandy Hook and I’ll get into more of the claims on my podcast coming up, but these are just a few red flags that are always on my mind whenever I think about the events of December, 2012. That means we’re coming up on the 10th anniversary of the Sandy Hook events, so I just think we should be able to talk about it like adults. And Alex Jones did nothing wrong.
I know you have opinions about Sandy Hook and I’m very interested to know what they are. Please feel free to add to the story in the comments.
I wonder what did happen to Wolfgang Halbig? The last thing I can find is that he was arrested in Lake County, FL in 2020 for allegedly being in possession of Leonard Pozner's ID and had been emailing it out to others. Here is the article here: https://www.jacksonville.com/story/news/state/2020/01/28/in-florida-sandy-hook-denier-charged-with-having-victims-dads-id-info/112222552/
For reference, Lake County is just to the west of the Orlando area and encompasses cities such as Clermont, Mount Dora, and Eustis. It also appears that he still has a residence in Sorrento, FL according to the Lake County Property Appraisers website.
Never knew they left the bodies at the school! *"how bizarre" song plays in my head*
